The Maison d’education of the Legion of Honor of Saint-Denis is a boarding school for some 400 girls. From imparting knowledge to personal reflection, these high school level classes shape students' minds and instill in them the values of the Legion of Honor.
Learning
The instruction at the Maison d'education of Saint-Denis pursues three major objectives:
- a high-quality intellectual development
- a high regard for moral and civic education
- success in the French baccalaureate examination
Educational plan
In return for the quality of their teaching and the engagement of the educational staff, the Maisons d'Education expect significant commitment from the students. Parents' adherence to this contract is also a prerequisite for successful schooling.
Conditions of study
The Maison d’education of Saint-Denis prepares 17 classes for the General Baccalaureate and the Baccalaureate in Science and Management Technologies (STMG). Classes run from Monday to Friday, with supervised study time every evening.
In addition to cultural outings and trips abroad, visits to companies and noteworthy sites are also part of the curriculum, in order to prepare students for their future professional environment.
10th grade
The first year of high school (age 14-15) is the same for all students. Their classes comprise compulsory common subjects and optional subjects of their choice.
11th and 12th grades

Dans la voie générale, toutes les élèves de première et de terminale suivent :
- des enseignements communs obligatoires ;
- des enseignements de spécialité : les élèves choisissent trois spécialités de 4 heures en première, puis en conservent deux de 6 heures en terminale ;
- des enseignements optionnels au choix des élèves.
General Baccalaureate
All students in the last two years of high school preparing for the General Baccalaureate attend:
- compulsory core courses
- specialized courses: students choose three 4-hour specialties in 11th grade, then two 6-hour specialties in 12th grade
- optional courses of their choice.
Baccalaureate in Science and Management Technologies (STMG)
All students in the last two years of high school preparing the Baccalaureate in Science and Management Technologies (STMG) attend:
- common compulsory courses
- specific STMG specialty courses
- a choice of optional courses.

School supervision
Academic supervision
Systematic supervision of student work is one of the school's key assets.
- From the start of the new school year in September, assessments of the previous year's curriculum in all 11th and 12th grades.
- Supervised study time every evening.
- Supervised tests every Saturday morning.
- Mock exams.
- Quarterly class councils followed by formal in-class progress reports, with the Head of School presenting awards to deserving students.
- The educational staff supports each student's progress. Outside class hours, the girls can rely on the supervision and advice of chargées d’éducation (teaching assistants, a position specific to the Maison d'education).
Supervision of boarding school life
Three chief education advisors (CPEs) supervise all activities of school life outside class hours. They are the first point of contact for students and their families on all matters relating to the organization and unfolding of daily life.
They supervise over 30 staff members: 2 chargées d’éducation (teaching assistants) and 32 assistantes d'éducation maîtresses d’internat (education assistants and housemistresses).
Special facilities
Language laboratories
Students have access to a multimedia language laboratory and to video rooms where teachers hold screenings of foreign-language material in all 10th and 11th grade classes.
Center for Documentation and Information
The Center for Documentation and Information (CDI) enables students to deepen and complement their coursework with a collection of 22,000 documents. In addition to novels, school books and career guides, some 50 subscriptions to press publications give students further access to current events.
The CDI is a place for study and concentration, with a reading room where students can work on individual, partitioned tables.
Finally, the multimedia room has 13 computers with access to the Internet, excluding social media and email.
