Strong points

Whether it's sports, languages, art or music, the Maison d’Education de Saint-Denis offers the right conditions for students to practice and be evaluated on these options at the baccalaureate examination at their highest level of performance.

Subject to sufficient enrolment, the music specialty is open to students in the last two years before the General Baccalaureate.

They are invited to take part in the school's music group activities: chamber music, orchestra or choir.

The visual arts option is open to all pupils, whatever the section, in the three years of high school.
In addition to classroom and individual work, personal and group projects are offered, including commissions, competitions and exhibitions of student work. Also, visiting exhibitions and museums, and meetings with artists offer opportunities for direct contact with works of art.

This section, in great demand but with limited spaces, guarantees a very good level of English and the ability to work in a foreign language.
In 12th grade, students can take part in a two-week trip to the United States to meet their pen pals from the Hewitt School in New York City.
The school also offers a TOEFL preparation course open to all.

The school offers two optional sports sections for all students in the three years of high school:

- arts-dance
 - physical education (multi-sports)

School supervision

Academic supervision

Systematic supervision of student work is one of the school's key assets.

  • From the start of the new school year in September, assessments of the previous year's curriculum in all 11th and 12th grades.
  • Supervised study time every evening.
  • Supervised tests every Saturday morning.
  • Mock exams.
  • Quarterly class councils followed by formal in-class progress reports, with the Head of School presenting awards to deserving students.
  • The educational staff supports each student's progress. Outside class hours, the girls can rely on the supervision and advice of chargées d’éducation (teaching assistants, a position specific to the Maison d'education).

Supervision of boarding school life

Three chief education advisors (CPEs) supervise all activities of school life outside class hours. They are the first point of contact for students and their families on all matters relating to the organization and unfolding of daily life.

They supervise over 30 staff members: 2 chargées d’éducation (teaching assistants) and 32 assistantes d'éducation maîtresses d’internat (education assistants and housemistresses).

Special facilities

Language laboratories

Students have access to a multimedia language laboratory and to video rooms where teachers hold screenings of foreign-language material in all 10th and 11th grade classes.

Center for Documentation and Information

The Center for Documentation and Information (CDI) enables students to deepen and complement their coursework with a collection of 22,000 documents. In addition to novels, school books and career guides, some 50 subscriptions to press publications give students further access to current events.

The CDI is a place for study and concentration, with a reading room where students can work on individual, partitioned tables.

Finally, the multimedia room has 13 computers with access to the Internet, excluding social media and email.
