Admission

Families whose daughters are eligible for admission are invited to read the procedures described in this section before submitting an application.

The application period for the next school year starts in November for secondary school (middle school and high school) and in January for the post-baccalaureate courses.

Admissions principles

In accordance with the institution’s bylaws, the Maison d’education of the Legion of Honor of the Loges (middle school, ages 11-14) and the Maison d’education of Saint-Denis (high school, ages 14-18, and post-baccalaureate courses, ages 18 to 20) are reserved for the daughters, granddaughters and great-granddaughters of French and foreign recipients of:

  • the Order of the Legion of Honor
  • the Military Medal (not the Croix de Guerre, Croix de la Valeur Militaire, etc.)
  • the National Order of Merit

Selection process

The Maison d'education of the Legion of Honor receive many applications. The number of places available varies according to level, and is higher for admission to 6th grade. The Admissions Committee, chaired by the Grand Chancellor or the Secretary General, meets to screen the applications before admitting selected applicants according to the number of places available.

Selection criteria

The main criteria include the schoolgirls’ academic record, behavior and motivation. Her age and her family's geographical and social situation are also taken into account. The school draws parents’ attention to the boarding system, which must be the subject of an informed choice on the part of the young candidates, as in most cases it would be their first time living away from their families. Applicants must be medically fit for boarding school.

Special cases

With very few exceptions, students who are repeating a year are not admitted to the Maison d'education of the Legion of Honor. It is up to parents to give reasons for any special request and to provide any documents that may justify such a situation.

An applicant to the Maison d'education of the Loges who is in a non-state-affiliated private school in France or abroad in a school that is not accredited with the French Ministry of Education, and whose application is pre-selected, is then invited to take an assessment test organized by the Maison d'education of theLoges. The result of this test is valid only for admission to this establishment.

Continuing on to the Maison d’education of Saint-Denis

Parents whose daughters are students at the Maison d'education of the Loges (middle school) and admitted to high school can apply for their daughter's admission to the high school at the Maison d'education of Saint-Denis as part of the official transfer procedure, subject to approval of the application by the Admissions Committee.

Post-baccalaureate courses: BTS in International Trade and Preparatory course for Humanities studies

As at the middle school and high school levels, only the daughters, granddaughters or great-granddaughters of French or foreign recipients of the Legion of Honor, the Military Medal or the National Order of Merit are eligible to have their applications considered for post-baccalaureate courses at the Maison d’education of Saint-Denis.

Practical information

  • Boarding fees: these are re-evaluated every year and payable in three installments. Fees are specified in the downloadable application form during the application period. Financial aid may be granted to families, covering all or part of these costs.
  • School uniform: uniforms must be worn by all students, and the purchase of a complete set of school clothes is required on admission.
  • The Maisons d'education do not accommodate pupils on weekends (except for post-baccalaureate students), and are closed on public holidays and during school vacations. As a result, families must designate a contact person close to the school who will be able to pick them up and house them if necessary.
