The Maisons d'Education
of the Legion of Honor

Specific features of the Maisons d’education

The Maisons d’education of the Legion of Honor are State schools for girls who are descendants of honorees. In a successful alliance of tradition and modernity, the schools educate 1000 boarders, from 6th grade (Middle School) to Classes Préparatoires aux Grandes Ecoles and Brevet de Technicien Supérieur (two years after the baccalaureate).

Their purpose is to provide motivated, deserving students with favorable studying conditions, to foster intellectual openness within a rigorous educational setting, and to encourage individual effort and collective dynamics. Their educational mission includes perpetuating the traditions and symbols of the institution.

Life in the Maisons d'education

What is it like to live in a Maison d'education? Students and their parents are the ones who talk about it best.

“When my parents and I visited Les Loges, I immediately loved the buildings and the grounds. Today, I'm very happy. In my class, we're a close-knit group, everyone gets on well together.” Aline, sixth-grader

“I'm very happy to have found a school where I can attend classes and pursue my passion, music. We have dedicated spaces to play and teachers on hand to help us.” Sarah, tenth-grader

“I'm delighted to be at the Legion of Honor. There's no transportation. The atmosphere is excellent. I can express myself freely in class, whereas at my old school the boys monopolized the floor.” Laure, twelth-grader
