Specific features of the Maisons d’Education

The Maisons d’Education of the Legion of Honor are State schools for girls who are descendants of honorees. In a successful alliance of tradition and modernity, the schools educate 1000 boarders, from 6th grade (Middle School) to Classes Préparatoires aux Grandes Ecoles and Brevet de Technicien Supérieur (two years after the baccalaureate).

Their purpose is to provide motivated, deserving students with favorable studying conditions, to foster intellectual openness within a rigorous educational setting, and to encourage individual effort and collective dynamics. Their educational mission includes perpetuating the traditions and symbols of the institution.

Life in the Maisons d'Education

What is it like to live in a Maison d'Education? Students are the ones who talk about it best.

Everything is made so that we feel comfortable in our daily lives, especially thanks to the boarding supervisors, who are very available and attentive. The hardest part is being separated from our families, but little by little we get used to it, and we are happy to come back to see our friends!

The teachers are always available to answer our questions, and they care about our success. Being among girls makes us feel much more comfortable speaking. After class study and the classes takes place in a calm environment, which helps increase concentration.

I feel that I have made progress since joining the Maison d'Education of the Loges and that I have become better organized. The boarding school routine has taught me how to live in a community and to manage everyday life on my own.

When I arrived at the Maison d’Education of Saint-Denis, I was impressed by the number of extracurricular activities offered. Whether you enjoy sports, art, or literature, there is something for everyone.

I have been playing the piano since fourth grade in elementary school. When I arrived at the Maison d’Education, I was able to continue my musical training in excellent conditions, and now I go to the music studios, available anytime, almost every evening. I am very happy to be able to play so regularly!

I feel very well supported in the planning of my studies after high school thanks to teachers who are attentive and committed to their students’ success. We also have the opportunity to meet many professionals whom we can ask about their career paths.
